Wow, I never had heard that before, and that interests me a lot. I heard a theory like that through an Indian Myth that white people were just undercooked, Blacks were just over cooked, and the Indians were cooked just right, but nothing like the idea you just talked about! I kind of want to look into that!

I thought your closing point in your blog was really interesting. It's weird to think how if the narrator had just gone to a different college, none of what happened in the novel would have happened, and he probably would not have ended up as some crazy guy who was obsessed with lightbulbs. While unfortunate things did happen throughout his life, he definitely had the opportunity to go to a different college, he just seemed to be very stubborn and never considered that to be an option

Dawn, I most certainly agree that Sula got what she deserved when Ajax left her. Sula had been sleeping with various different men without having any feelings attached what so ever. When she found Ajax, her feelings changed. She actually found someone she started to actually care about; however, when she began to change the way how she used to act and became more domestic, Ajax was not pleased. He left Sula and she was very upset. I did not feel bad about this because Sula got a taste of her own medicine. She had slept with guys and then left them and this time she was the person who got dumped.

Tell us how you really feel?? lol.. well i must say that i agree with you. Too many women, almost as confusing as TSATF. But you are also very right about the whole throwing a kid in the water thing. These two friends are not in and way shape or form normal. You jsut dont act like that!

dawn, i definitly have to agree with what you said about how the author just jammed us with so many female characters at once and how confused i got when i first read it. I found myself having to stop so many times and re-read what i just read just to figure out who was who and which character they really were. But i love Toni Morrisons writing, every book i have read by her so far i have enjoyed so much. She doesnt make it hard for the reader to be like "what is going on here" she makes it readable for everyone. Which i enjoy a lot

Dawn, I agree with you. Sula is definately an easy read and it is also interesting at the same time. I thought the same thing about the characters. If we did not discuss them in class, I would have been totally lost. There are so many females that I was getting them confused. Since we have clarified who everyone is, I am able to understand the novel much better. And in response to your comment about Sula and Nel, I laughed when I read your comment about that! I too, thought it was so stupid of them to not try and pull the little boy from the water. They really must have been brain dead!

Dawn, you really make some excellent points here. I agree with you and Micelle in saying that he definately should not have been released from the hospital when he was. However, because of his condition is how he meets Mary. A lot of this book leaves you wondering why things happened, or why they happened at the time that they occured.

Dawn, it's funny how you bring that point up that the doctors released the narrator from the hospital when in my opinion, he was in no condition to leave. That astonished me because the narrator had not remembered anything about himself and there he is walking the streets randomly with no place to go! I do not think this man is too bright either. Yes, he could have applied to anther college and got a job elsewhere; however, I feel that he is trying to prove himself in some weird way. As the book progresses, it is interesting to see how he will end up.

Wow, I didn't even think about it that way. I was paying more attention to the social aspects. Although this combined with the social interpretation of this passage, kind of makes the racism the narrartor experiences even more stupid.

Dawn, as being part of your group I think Passing was an interesting book. I think it would be a great idea to compare Dilsey and Irene because they are so very much alike. They both care about keeping up the household and are involved in their families. Both of these novels contribute to both the canon and non-canonical themes. I think you could do an excellent job on the paper using those examples!
